Porsche power rolls into Gqeberha
Car enthusiasts are in for a treat this week when Gqeberha hosts the national Porsche Club Parade.
Porsche clubs from across South Africa will gather in the Friendly City from September 23 to 27.
Karl Illenberger, who founded the Eastern Cape Porsche Club in 1993, says a different city hosts the parade every two years, making 2026 the perfect year to showcase the beauty of Nelson Mandela Bay alongside the beauty and luxury of Porsche.
He says 100 Porsches will take over the Courtyard Hotel parking lot, which will no doubt be a feast for the eyes.
Planned events over four days
The clubs will kick off the festivities with a “Show & Shine” at Baywest Mall on Heritage Day, where some of the country’s most beautiful Porsches will be on display from 10 am.
The event will be open to the public and will provide the perfect photo opportunity for car enthusiasts.
On Friday, the Porsches will make their way to the Scribante Race Circuit, with free entry for car enthusiasts.
Illenberger says the clubs will host a gala dinner at Tramways on Saturday, attended by international guests travelling all the way from Porsche headquarters in Germany.
